ATHENS CANDIDACY in BRIEF

I. The coordinator of the present candidacy, Dr. S. Agathopoulos (www.agathopoulos.org), has an exclusive scientific direction at preparing and characterizing ceramic materials, with emphasis to bioceramics, including ceramics, glasses and glass-ceramics as well as their composites. This has been documented by his Ph.D., his post-doctoral research career, his publications in scientific journals, and his current position (he is professor of "Ceramics Technology" in a Laboratory of "Ceramics and Composites", in a department of "Materials Science and Engineering"). His dedication at the activities in Bioceramics Conferences since many years ago with numerous participations is also a true fact.


II. Beyond coordinator's suitability, the candidacy is endorsed by (i) many eminent Greek scientists, who have high interest (and scientific affinity) to the aim of Bioceramics Conferences, (ii) the relevant Scientific Societies of Greece and (iii) Greek Ministers and Political Officers, such as the Mayor of the Municipality of Athens.


III. The scheme of the coordinator (Dr. S. Agathopoulos) and the Organizing Agency (TRIAENA S.A., that is the oldest and currently the biggest agency for organizing Conferences in Greece) has organized with a great success, in terms of (i) excellent organization, (ii) high scientific level of the Conference and (iii) perfect social events, the 6th International Conference on High Temperature Capillarity (HTC-2009) held in Athens, in 4-6 May, 2009. The website of that conference, that is still available in the web at www.htc2009.org, provided complete information to participants, whose comments are also provided in this leaflet.

 

Dr. S. Agathopoulos and TRIAENA S.A. will organize the 4th National (Greek) Conference of Biomedicine in June 2010 at Ioannina University.
