Schedule and Program
Schedule
Due to the established tradition of BIOCERAMICS to taking place in autumn, this proposal suggests Bioceramics-31 to take place at the end of September or the first 10 days of October in order:
(a) to catch the highest possibilities of good weather (i.e. no rain, moderate temperature, sunshine),
(b) to have the longest period of daylight during autumn (that is important for the social events of the Conference and the tourist activities for both the participants of their accompanying persons), and
(c) because there is not National (or any important International) Holiday, during this period.
Certainly, if the Executive Committee decides a later date, then the schedule can be easily and immediately fixed to the new dates with no extra cost of the herein proposed budget or alterations in the reservation of conference venue or the social activities etc.
Program
This candidacy considers a program of 3 days of conference with 2 parallel sessions taking place simultaneously together with 2 Poster sessions.
Note that for the Poster presentations, we can also activate electronic poster presentation, a very new modern facility whereas the posters can be presented in electronic screens.
The program provides 5 selected Plenary Lectures which will be given by eminent researchers.
If we shall receive more (than usual) good Abstracts, we can expand the conference into 3 parallel sessions (the venue has such possibilities).
In any case, we are very flexible to expand (or shrink) the number of days and the number of the parallel sessions.
Features of the Program:
According to the experience from the Program of the previous Conferences, the proposing program for Bioceramics-31, shown below, has the following features:
(a) There will be a general aim (if possible and according to the submitted Abstracts) to focus in the first day mainly to materials (properties, manufacturing), the second day to biological performance and characterization, and in the third day to medical applications.
(b) The parallel sessions will focus to non-directly similar subjects (in order to have a good balance of the audience in the two rooms).
(c) The Poster Sessions are smartly combined with the reception (in the first day) and the lunch break (in the second day) in order to create a friendly and relaxed atmosphere and allow all the participants to be around the posters. This “trick” had a great success in the poster session in HTC-2009.
(d) The social events and the conference tours (before and after the conference) have been specially designed to allow all the participants (and their accompanying persons) to have excellent touristic memories along with the conference. The Greek-Night (on Saturday night) also provides to the participants the flexibility to enter and exit the tour at any time and any spot they wish.
